The Opportunity

We are seeking a Credit Risk Analytics Manager I - Collections. Our Credit Risk Analytics team supports, enables, and solutions the data and analytics needs of the Chief Credit Office -Collections. This outstanding opportunity will enable the Credit Risk professional to collaborate with others across business divisions, risk management, and the USAA Enterprise in the translation of business needs into credit risk requirements and the fulfillment thereof.

The Credit Risk Analytics Manager I - Collections role is a hybrid work type and can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX; Plano, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Charlotte, NC; or Tampa, FL. Hybrid roles help employees gain the best of both worlds - collaborating in-person in the office and working from home when needed to achieve focused results.

What you'll do:

  • Applies analytical skills to assess risks and opportunities across multiple Bank consumer portfolios and translates results into strategic solutions.
  • Assists in delivering Bank strategies across lines of defense by optimally developing and improving analytical frameworks, information, and insights to key customers.
  • Conducts and develops quantitative analysis applying extensive internal and external data sources to bring structure to problems.
  • Builds and may assist in maintaining effective risk management frameworks which can identify, measure, or mitigate risk.
  • Establishes and maintains comprehensive risk reporting in support of management and committee oversight of existing and emerging risks.
  • May conduct effective challenge of credit, product, and/or risk proposals through detailed research and vetting, demonstrating banking product, regulatory and industry knowledge, and support strong portfolio performance outcomes.
  • May develop and/or complete financial risk sensitivity analysis.
  • May implement or support implementation of credit and/or financial modeling infrastructure. What you have:
    • Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree
    • Four years of demonstrated ability in an analytical field or work focused on risk management execution, analytics or risk assessments; OR 2 years experience in an analytical field or focused on risk management execution, analytics or risk assessments with an advanced degree in a quantitative, scientific, engineering, business or technical field; OR an equivalent level of proven proficiencies in leading risk management execution, analytics, and risk assessments.
    • Experience with data, code, or reporting tools.
    • Experience communicating analytical insights to various collaborators.
    • Ability to apply critical thinking skills with various data to problem solve efficiently.
    • Experience getting results through collaboration. What sets you apart:
      • 3-5 years of MDS or Collections/Recovery experience in a large financial institution
      • Ability to quickly develop an understanding of front-line end-to-end business processes and prioritize drivers of potential credit risk
      • Proven track record to lead projects successfully with minimal direction
      • Critical and strategic thinking ability and understanding of risk management principles, especially as applying to Loss Control and Recovery within a large financial institution
      • Excellent verbal and written communication and social skills required with ability to present sophisticated and critical issues to management
      • 3-5 years of data analytics or science experience using SQL, SAS, and visualization tools (Tableau) preferred
      • Enterprise financial risk strategic direction and governance experience preferred

        What we offer:

        Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $78,670 - $150,330.

        Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
