challenging career. Job Description Purpose of the Position: The
Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for accurately and compliantly
processing payroll, with a strong focus on multi-state taxation.
This role serves as a subject matter expert on state and local tax
regulations, ensuring payroll operations adhere to all applicable
laws and reporting requirements across multiple jurisdictions. This
position partners closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors to
resolve payroll discrepancies, support audits, and implement
process improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and
compliance. Job Responsibilities: Process, review, and validate
payroll for salaried and hourly employees, ensuring accuracy and
timeliness Manage payroll tax calculations, filings, and
reconciliations at the federal, state, and local levels Ensure
compliance with all payroll tax laws, regulations, and reporting
requirements Review and reconcile payroll tax filings, including
quarterly and annual returns (e.g., Forms 941, 940, W-2, W-3, state
equivalents) Analyze payroll and tax data to identify
discrepancies, trends, and root causes Partner with HR, Finance,
Accounting, and third-party vendors to resolve payroll and
tax-related issues Support payroll tax audits, agency notices, and
inquiries; research and resolve discrepancies Monitor changes in
payroll tax legislation and assess the impact on payroll processes
Maintain payroll and tax documentation, procedures, and internal
controls Assist with payroll system upgrades, tax configuration,
implementations, and testing Respond to employee payroll and tax
inquiries with professionalism and confidentiality Qualifications
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Associate
degree with a total of 7 years of relevant experience. 5 years of
payroll tax compliance Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
designation required Deep expertise in federal, state, and local
payroll tax laws, including multi-state compliance, withholding,
reciprocity, and unemployment insurance Advanced experience with
payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and year-end processes (e.g.,
W-2, 941, and state equivalents), including resolution of complex
tax discrepancies Experience partnering with payroll tax vendors
and supporting internal and external audits as a payroll tax
subject matter expert Proficiency with payroll systems, preferably
ADP, with strong analytical skills and attention to detail to
manage compliance across multiple jurisdictions Additional

of approximately 40 hours per week at the institution. This
