Northrop Grumman ATK gun systems built for the U.S. and international militaries have been used in all major conflicts since World War II in a variety of applications to include small and large ground vehicles, helicopters, airplanes, and naval ships.This career opportunity is a great fit for self-motivated, proactive individual who wants to assume ownership of the weapon system controls engineering lab of Northrop Grumman's medium caliber Bushmaster gun controller product line. Our engineers work in a high exposure, fast paced, and exciting environment that involves hands-on technical challenges, problem solving, and inter-department collaborations. If you thrive on solving problems and want different challenges each day, this is the place for you.Activities will range from hands-on testing and troubleshooting; to analysis of failure trends, root cause/corrective actions; and attending program meetings to report yields, problems, and corrective actions.The responsibilities include weapon system ground-based hardware testing, electronics test systems, site support, procurement, logistics, material tracking and disposition. The ideal candidate has experience with hands on hardware test and integration and is comfortable with racking units, being hands on in the assembly lab with hardware such as commercial test equipment, custom electronics (simple to very complex), PCBs, Units, Test Sets, subsystems, and systems. This person will be working on programs of various sizes ranging from small to large teams.This position may be filled at a higher level depending on education and/or years of experience.Basic Qualifications for Principal Systems Engineer

  • 5 years of engineering experience with bachelor's degree in electrical or Computer Engineering, or another STEM degree from an accredited institution, or 3 years of directly related experience with a master's degree.
  • 5+ years of electronic engineering test experience in an engineering EnvironmentBasic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Systems Engineer
    • 9 years of engineering experience with bachelor's degree in electrical or Computer Engineering, or another STEM degree from an accredited institution, or 7 years of directly related experience with a master's degree
    • 5+ years of electronic engineering test experience in an engineering EnvironmentPreferred Qualifications:
      • Master's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution
      • Electronic Design experience in an engineering environment
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
      • Fast learner and have a strong interest in hardware integration and testOther Qualifications:
        • Experience in sustainment of legacy programs for complex aerospace or defense systems.
        • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical engineering processes and other specialty engineering activities within the product development process.
        • Knowledge of requirements decomposition, FMEAs, verification and validation, and risk analysis.
        • Experience with requirements database tools such as Cameo, DOORS, or TCSE.
        • Experience in performing failure analysis and driving implementation of robust corrective action.
        • U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
        • Must be able to obtain clearance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and Explosives as an Employee Possessor. Salary Range: $87,600 USD - $131,400 USD Salary Range 2: $108,600 USD - $163,000 USD Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
