POSITION SUMMARY

This position provides managerial and clinical support to all registry staff and patients served by registry staff. Supervises all registry employees across the region and participates in selection, orientation, counseling, evaluation and staff scheduling. Responsible for staff competencies. Has responsibility for the provision of high quality, safe and cost effective patient care, environmental control and customer service. Inspires leadership skills in all professional disciplines.


CORE FUNCTIONS

1. Facilitates patient centered care necessary and appropriate for the wide variety of patient populations and disciplines served by registry professionals across the region. May collaborate with case management for care management. Maintains own clinical competencies in order to mentor staff to improve clinical performance and problem solving skills.


2. Provides leadership by demonstrating effective communication skills, problem solving, and conflict resolution in the management of the assigned services for both internal and external customers. Utilizes proactive conflict resolution skills. Collaborates with facility-based management to investigate and address concerns and facilitate resolution of issues related to provision of care via registry staff.


3. Promotes professional development within the delivery of care and serves as a professional resource person to patients, families, physicians and staff in interpretation of departmental/hospital/system policy, facilitating medical and nursing care, and utilizing appropriate resources.


4. Conducts personnel actions including staff selection/hiring, performance evaluations/competencies, salary determination, promotions and disciplinary actions, and staff development.


5. Supports change and participates in the development, interpretation, implementation and evaluation of the goals/objectives and quality management activities of the department. Participates in goal setting and implementation of those goals. Acts as a change agent. Seeks and utilizes input from staff affected by change and assist them through transitional phases and processes.


6. Develops, monitors and implements quality improvement initiatives and activities. Serves as a project manager as needed. Recognizes and ensures compliance with regulatory agencies and laws (JCAHO, OSHA, Safety, etc.).


7. Manages patient care activities within the budgetary guidelines of the department/system. Utilizes financial management by monitoring appropriate fiscal monitoring of resources, equipment and supplies. Adjust staffing to meet changing workload projections.


8. Position works with all facilities in the region where Registry staff are assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Must possess a strong knowledge and understanding of healthcare management as normally obtained through the completion a bachelor's degree in nursing or related field.


Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice.


Requires demonstrated leadership ability and at least 3 years clinical experience. Requires demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective communication and working relationships with staff, physicians, patients and their families.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in healthcare is preferred.


Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
