ROLE SUMMARY

The Project Manager works primarily from a project location to ensure proper management of each project with incidental time spent in the corporate office. This position supports the bidding process, and oversees the planning, execution, and billing for each project. Project Managers work closely with regional operations management, the project field supervision, and an onsite Safety Coordinator to ensure the safety of Edison employees on the job site and that they have all the safety related equipment necessary. This position reports to the regional operations management personnel and could be assigned to locations all across the US.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews project proposal or plan, to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
  • Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of a project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  • Coordinates and executes all documents required to obtain a project's permits.
  • Prepares, revises, and distributes project schedules. Monitors schedules for prevention of delays.
  • Coordinates and executes all documents required to properly close out a project's completion.
  • Confers with project staff to outline work plans and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel, to ensure the project progresses on schedule and within the prescribed budget.
  • Reviews Daily Logs prepared by project personnel and takes appropriate actions, modifies schedules or plans as required based on the findings within those daily logs.
  • Prepares project reports for management, clients, or others.
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
  • Identifies scope changes and schedule delays caused by client, and properly documents and pursues reimbursement through formal prime change orders.
  • Assists foreman and crew members in identifying unsafe working conditions and ensures unsafe conditions are documented, corrected and passed on to Safety Coordinator.
  • Assists with quality control assurance of all trades and workmanship on the assigned projects. Documents quality control issues pertaining to all subcontractors and trades and documents the necessary actions to ensure quality compliance in accordance with the plans and specifications.
  • Maintains knowledge of OSHA safety requirements. Obtains minimum of 10-hour OSHA certification, with intent to pursue 30-hour certification.
  • Maintains extensive knowledge of all drawings, plan documents, addendums, and subcontractor bids throughout the duration of a project.
  • Ensures a project's schedule is initiated and distributed to all project stakeholders.
  • Maintains and distributes revised schedules to all applicable parties throughout the project's duration.
  • Maintains consistent and professional correspondence, both verbally and by way of email/fax, with all client representatives, subcontractors, vendors, co-workers, etc.
  • Practices and enforces safety upon subordinates, on the jobsite, and throughout the duration of a given project.
  • Consistently ensures that all work performed on, and all materials delivered to, a jobsite are of satisfactory quality and are immediately corrected if not satisfactory.
  • Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized lists.
  • Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business Management, Construction Management or Construction Engineering and two (2) to four (4) years' experience in project managing or a combination thereof that shows an appropriate level of experience and expertise.
    • Up to 50% travel and relocation to new job sites as required
    • Ability to accommodate weekend and night work as needed
    • Experience in the high voltage Transmission/Distribution or Pipeline Industry
    • Thorough understanding of the building inspection process
    • Valid and insurable driver's license, vehicle insurance and reliable transportation

      DESIRED CHARACTERISITICS

      • Be professional at all times in attitude and appearance, and able to change roles within the company as necessary.
      • Have a thorough knowledge of both contract and design documents, all applicable building codes and their relation to a given project.

        The noise level in the work environment is usually a quiet office environment although job site and customer visits may include extreme cold, extreme heat, dusty, dirty, loud environments that require walking on unstable ground and around large equipment.
