Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) is looking for you to join
our team as a Manager Manufacturing Engineering 2 based out of our
Mesa, AZ campus.
What You'll get to Do:
The Manager Manufacturing Engineering 2 manages a team of 5
manufacturing engineers and 3 traffic administrators. The site
comprises warehousing, assembly, metal parts manufacturing, bench
top and live fire testing of cannons ranging in size from 7.62mm to
50mm You'll provide guidance on executing given assignments and
provide direction to subordinates to ensure that the work is
successfully completed per cost, scope and schedule requirements.
Is responsible for Operations and Site Management that comprises
warehousing, assembly, metal parts manufacturing, bench top and
live fire testing of cannons ranging in size from 7.62mm to 50mm.
Is required to have familiarity with factory scheduling concepts,
mechanical (and electromechanical) assembly and testing in a low
volume high mix manufacturing operation. Oversees and manages
manufacturing engineering, responsible for the safety of the
employees, delivering quality products on time and within customer
cost targets, and continuous improvement. Provides leadership
direction of process development, manufacturing engineering, and
partners with production, operations test and Quality Assurance
functions. Manages and presents status on cost, schedule and
performance for all projects within the area; assesses issues and
develops mitigation plans to meet productivity, quality, cost, and
delivery goals. Advisor to lower level managers and exempt
employees. Typically accomplishes results through lower levels of
management or exempt employees. Helps meet established schedules
and resolve technical or operational problems. Establishes
operating procedures that affect the organization. Develops and
administers standards of performance and in addition to meeting
production commitments, is responsible to complete any
Manufacturing Engineering tasks on time and on budget. Frequent
contact with equivalent level managers and customer representatives
concerning projects, operational decisions, scheduling
requirements, or contractual clarifications. Conducts briefings and
technical meetings for internal and external representatives.
Supports MRP development with manufacturing instructions consistent
with the MRP plans using Costpoint and Synchrono operating
environments.
The Manager Manufacturing Engineering 2 manages a team
that:
Coach direct reports in the areas of career development,
performance, and teamwork. Provide training and development
opportunities. Provide continual feedback and hold mid-year and
end-of-year performance communications .
Oversees development of manufacturing processes, procedures and
production layouts for assemblies, processing, machining and
material handling.
Manages development of structured manufacturing instructions
identifying the operations and order of manufacturing steps, key
technical parameters and features
Works closely with the factory hourly touch labor team on technical
aspects of manufacturing including standard operations and
rework
Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and
specification requirements to best utilize equipment and
manufacturing techniques.
Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with
regulations.
Basic Qualifications:
This position focus on skills and requires 10 years of experience.
Will consider a Bachelors of Science in an engineering, technical
field or equivalent with 6 years of experience or a MS and 4 years
of experience.
Experience overseeing manufacturing engineers in a production
environment consisting of assembly and machining.
Must have experience and be proficient in developing, manipulating,
and presenting complex data to executive staff.
General knowledge and experience in general machining, precision
assembly, factory layout and process development.
Firm understanding of the fundamentals of MRP.
Must be a US citizen
Must be able to obtain clearance from the Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco, and Firearms and Explosives as an Responsible Person.
Candidates hired into this role will also need to complete a Gun
Control Act Self Certification form.
This position is covered under the Safe Explosive Act which
requires any employee possessor/responsible person to complete an
Employee Possessor Questionnaire for Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, &
Firearms (ATF).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working on USG programs and working with DCMA in a
production environment
Experience using Costpoint in a production environment.
10+ years of Government contracting / DOD Program experience and
fixed price production experience.
Experience with Machining of high tolerance parts, assembly and
test of complex military hardware and manufacturing process
optimization including warehouse efficiencies
Salary Range: $105,600 USD - $158,400 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to
base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual
contributions as well as allow employees to share in company
results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be
eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman
