Job Description:

The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) is a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team that provides administrative and clerical support to direct care staff. The primary focus is supporting the direct care staff by completing clerical and administrative duties. The HUC is also the responsible for providing exceptional customer service for all visitors and callers to the facility.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIESPrints patient labels and wrist bands for all admissions in a timely and accurate manner.Tracks admission document completion and notifies the RN Supervisor when documentation is needed.Completes admission documentation as delegated by the RN Supervisor.Gathers billing documentation for the pharmacy and maintains the file of all submitted billing slips.Answers phone calls and directs phone calls to appropriate staff members.Completes inventory of all business, hygiene, and medical supplies. Orders replacement supplies as needed under the guidance of the RN Supervisor and Director of Nursing.Maintains the log of interviews, contacts and schedules potential candidates for employment as directed by the Director of Nursing and the Operations Administrator.Schedules staff meetings under the guidance of the Director of Nursing and the Operations Administrator and maintains the attendance records of meetings.Adheres to a "No wrong door" policy and does not deny services to any individual without first consulting a Nurse Supervisor.Protects each patient's confidentiality within the guidelines of established policy and procedure.Adheres to establish policy and procedures set forth by CBI.Communicates effectively with a variety of disciplines, patients, family members and stakeholders. Functions calmly in situations, which require a high degree of sensitivity and tact.Provides prompt, efficient, and responsive service. Communicates with the RN Supervisor when a barrier is identified.Ensures that all patients are always treated with dignity and respect.All other duties as assigned by supervisory or administrative designees.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREDHighschool diploma or GED required. Associate Degree or higher preferred.Minimum of 6 months of experience as a Health Unit Coordinator in a hospital setting, an EMT or a CNA.Or equivalent combination of education and experienceLICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, CREDENTIALS, REGISTRATIONS Current AZ Driver's LicenseEmergency Medical Technician certification (valid within the state of Arizona) is preferred but not required for this position.Certified Nurse Assistant certification (current and valid within the State of Arizona) is preferred but not required of this position.
