Job Summary
This Psychological Science faculty position will begin in August
2023. This position involves teaching various 100 to 200 level
psychology courses including, but not limited to, statistics and
research-based courses. In addition, the faculty will be expected
to develop and/or update curriculum in collaboration with other
psychology faculty; engage in scholarly, professional leadership
development activities; support student programs within the
department, college, and/or community to promote student retention,
graduation, and university transfer; demonstrate a commitment of
service excellence, innovation, student success, integrity, and
diversity in the performance of job duties; and participate in the
department Psi Beta club with the potential to serve as a lead
advisor.
Essential Functions
Instructs a diverse population of students in classroom and lab
settings.
Uses traditional and nontraditional methods for instruction,
including the use of technology to engage students and enhance
learning and success. Develops written syllabi/course outlines and
course materials; assesses student knowledge of subject matter and
prepares and grades assignments and exams; maintains in-person,
on-campus academic support hours to assist and advise students.
Engages in the academic life of the college by participating in
departmental, campus, district committees and activities, with a
specific commitment to participate in monthly department meetings,
weekly Psi Beta meetings, and other department/college/district
initiatives.
Develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and
individual training skills required to remain current with new
trends and developments in psychology and to promote the
scholarship of teaching and learning through attendance at
conferences, professional development courses, seminars, and/or
workshops.
Minimum Qualifications
The Academic Teaching Fields require the following from an
accredited college or university:
1. A master's degree or higher in the teaching field, or a master's
degree or higher in any teaching field with 18 graduate semester
hours in the teaching field. (A master's degree or higher in any of
the following areas is within the Psychology Field of Study:
Psychology, or a degree granted by a Psychology Department, or a
degree which contains the word Psychology. Examples: Educational
Psychology, Counseling Psychology, School Psychology.) *
2. EDU250-Teaching and Learning in the Community Colleges or
equivalent must be completed within two years of date of hire.

This position may require attendance of
departmental/college/district events during the evening or
weekend.

Additional Requirements
Within your cover letter provide evidence of your depth of
knowledge in psychology (i.e., graduate degree, scholarly
activities, research/field experience, etc.), your experience as a
teacher (i.e., courses taught at the college level, years teaching,
teaching modalities, etc.), your experience as a leader (i.e., club
leader, etc.), and your demonstrated ability to work
collaboratively in a diverse environment.
