Desert Medical Center's adult echo lab is a dynamic lab that
provides high quality diagnostic testing for a wide variety of
patients, both inpatient and outpatient. We perform routine
echocardiograms, exercise stress echocardiograms, and TEEs. We
perform our TEEs in the cath lab and in the operating room. We have
a close working relationship with the cardiologists, where
communication is essential. As a Cardiac Sonographer in the echo
lab you will be responsible for performing portable exams
throughout the facility. You will be responsible for quickly and
confidently responding to requests to perform STAT exams where the
environment can be chaotic. You will have the opportunity to be
involved in shared leadership and assist in departmental audits and
quality projects. Schedule Details: They will be working four 10
hour shifts Sat, Sun, Mon, Tue. With one night of call per week and
rotating holidays. Preferred qualifications: What specific type of
experience? Experience in adult echo in the acute care setting.
Able to perform TEE and Stress echo. ARDMS: AE, CCI- RCS.

interacting with coworkers, physicians and patients/family members.
Able to prioritize tasks based on volume, location and urgency.
Specific job details: Perform adult echos in the acute care
setting. Obtain diagnostic quality images and write detailed
reports. Perform TEEs and TTEs in the OR and Cath lab as needed.
Help maintain IAC accreditation standards. Unit/ Position/ Team: We

very special patients. POSITION SUMMARY This position, acting as a
specialized ultrasound technologist, aids in the diagnosis and
treatment of cardiac conditions in patients, playing a central role
in detecting issues related to the heart, including heart
malfunctions and in supporting the physicians as they develop
diagnosis and treatment plans. CORE FUNCTIONS 1. Performs
procedures by following and verifying referring providers' orders.
Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies
according to established policy and procedures. Oversees Heart
Clinic echocardiographic services, ensuring quality of performance.
Accountable for the oversight and application of scanning protocols
and quality measures, following the guidelines of ASE or IAC. 2.
Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to
be performed. Demonstrates professional behavior and conduct in all
interactions; fosters teamwork, efficient use of resources and
quality patient outcomes. 3. Performs high quality images and
presents them for timely interpretation, ensuring accurate
documentation. Performs exams and imaging duties by providing
preliminary clinical findings to the supervising physicians. Also
provides valuable and timely preliminary findings to the
Cardiologists or Cardiac surgeons. 4. Demonstrates competence in
performing prescribed invasive/interventional procedures in
accordance with established policies. 5. Performs and evaluates
equipment quality control measurements. Demonstrates the ability to
troubleshoot and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain
equipment performance. Maintains a safe environment for patients,
personnel and visitors. Adheres to safety policies. 6. Accountable
for the ethical, legal, professional and certification
responsibilities related to the practice. This includes maintaining
confidentiality of all work information. 7. Assures the efficient
operation of workflow in the department. Monitors and maintains an
adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure
non-interruption of services. Performs high level disinfecting in
accordance with manufacturers and regulatory policies and
procedures. 8. Functions as the clinical and technical expert in
Cardiac Sonographic Imaging for the Cardiology or Cardiovascular
department. May act as a clinical resource to staff and students,
as well as train new staff and students in sonographic techniques,
with focus on the echocardiographic laboratory. May provide
echocardiographic related education to Banner Health staff and
cardiac sonography students. May assess student competency and
provide feedback to department leadership.9. Ensures
echocardiography functions are within compliance of professional
scope of practice, accreditation and regulatory standards, Joint
Commission and Title 22. Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS Requires completion of an accredited Allied Health
Cardiovascular program. Requires national certification from the
American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or
from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as a Cardiac
Sonographer. For new graduates, certification must be completed
within 12 months of hire. BLS certification required. This position
requires clinical knowledge typically achieved with one to two
years of clinical experience. Must demonstrate effective
communication skills, human relations skills, analyze data and
solve problems. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Adult Echo experience
preferred.Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
