Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Level 1 Trauma experience
Description: Must have Level 1 Trauma experience. Candidates must
pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance, with two attempts
allowed. Travel teams must have their own vehicles. Natural hair
color is required and no facial piercings are allowed. Men must be
clean shaven for the fit test. A pass/fail exam will take place on
the first day of orientation. All RNs will complete a skills lab
for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes,
except for specific units. The hospital expects competency in
maintaining a sterile field, as these are frequently performed
nursing skills. Candidates expressing lack of competency in these
areas may not be a good fit. Additional educational training will
cover lifts, restraints, and wound care. Unit handles a high volume
of transplants and complex surgical patients. The hospital reserves
the right to cancel up to four shifts during the assignment.
Charting is completed using an electronic medical record system.
Weekend shifts consist of three shifts in a four-week period, with
holidays incorporated into the staffing rotation. Shifts are 12
hours, and floating to other units may be required. Patient care
ratios are 1:4-5. A large amount of post-operative care for
transplants and complex orthopedic procedures is typical. The unit
features 30 beds and operates with a supportive staffing structure,
including charge nurses and nurse aides. Respiratory therapy and
pharmacy services are available 24/7. Candidates should be prepared
