Job Description:

The **Boeing Space & Launch Division's Satellite Operations & Ground Systems** (SOGS) organization in **Mesa, AZ** is seeking junior software engineers to be innovators in the development of our nation's next generation of satellite and space flight ground systems. We seek skilled and motivated software developers who want to take their skills to the next level through hands-on development on a diverse multi-disciplined team of engineers, operating in an agile environment, using the latest tools and methodologies for multiple long-term satellite ground system projects. As a team member, you will be actively performing and growing the following skills: + Assisting with the documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems. + Developing and maintaining code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system. + Assisting with test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met. + Gathering information to support software project management. + Documenting deployed processes and tools and collect metrics. + Supporting software research and development projects. + Troubleshooting basic software issues. The SOGS Team offers up a collaborative casual, but professional mentoring environment with long-term potential for career growth into technical and management positions. This position requires the _ability to obtain_ an active **U.S. Security Clearance with a current Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).** An active U.S. Security Clearance is highly desirable. The U.S. Security Clearance is considered active if held within the past 24 months. **Basic (Required) Qualifications** + 1-2 years of experience in software development using Java and/or JavaScript **Preferred (Desired) Qualifications** Although the following skills are not required, it is highly desirable for the candidate to have some level of experience in the following skills: + Software development experience in a collaborative team environment using agile principles and a structured development process including code reviews and automated DevOps processes. + Experience working with Unix/Linux distributions using command line terminals and GUI based desktop environments. + Experience using team collaboration tools including Git, JIRA Agile, and Confluence + Experience automating software builds, unit tests, integration tests, deployment, and installations using a DevOps tool chain (Jenkins, Nexus, Artifactory, etc) + Experience using SonarQube and/or Coverity to instrument, trend and manage code quality + Experience developing containerized microservices deployed into a cloud based orchestration framework such as AWS, Docker Swarm, or OpenShift. **Preferred (Desired) Java Developer Qualifications** + Experience in software development using Java 8 + Experience building REST based services and/or applications that communicate with REST services + Experience using Maven for build and dependency management for Java applications + Experience building unit tests using Junit with a high level of code coverage + Experience using MongoDB and PostgreSQL database engines for data persistence **Preferred (Desired) UI/Javascript Developer Qualifications** + Experience building single page applications using Javascript, React, Redux, HTML5, and CSS + Experience using NPM for Javascript build and dependency management + Experience with common front-end development tools such as Babel, Webpack, etc + Knowledge of modern authorization mechanisms, such as JSON Web Token + Ability to understand user interactions and develops a user experience that accomplishes the desired user interactions. **Typical Education / Experience** Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in computer science (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. **Relocation** : Relocation assistance is _not_ a negotiable benefit for this position.
