Role and Responsibilities

CAE the worldwide leader in training for civil aviation is looking for a Finance Manager to join our leadership team in Mesa, AZ with Oxford Aviation Academy. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in being part of a leadership team within a training/service related business model.

Responsibilities include:

Prepare, report and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial information for the CAE Oxford Aviation Academy portfolio; Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective processes for the closing and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting and appropriate internal controls; Report to executive management regarding monthly operational results and variances to plan and/or forecast; Manage the budgeting and forecasting functions related to academies; Analysis of operations and implementation of turn-around strategies to improve profitability and efficiency; Participate in the division's management committees; Develop and implement a development plan for the finance team in collaboration with centers of excellence; Support national and international business development opportunities; Perform monthly analysis of the business unit performance and trends, and prepare various financial reports thereon (including benchmarking of operational metrics); Perform financial analysis of strategic initiatives and business cases for the region across the business segmentation; Manage Business unit cash performance to optimize cash collection and to address delinquent accounts; Coordinate internal and external audit activities with finance staff to ensure planning and execution as per stipulated deadlines; Participate in business process troubleshooting and enhancement initiatives (eg HFM, Oracle, Hyperion) where appropriate; Any other tasks or duties as agreed with Finance Vice President;

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • University Degree in accounting or finance
  • Professional Accounting Designation
  • 10+ years of senior financial analysis and reporting experience - at least 5 years in a leadership role;
  • In depth knowledge of accounting principles, public company financial reporting & practices
  • Proven management accounting skills and experience
  • Proven experience in preparing complex business models including knowledge of DCF, IRR, long term capex projects measurement and analysis
  • Knowledge of different costing principles (contribution, gross margin, allocation methods advantages/disadvantages, asset/labor utilization, variance analysis and methods)
  • Excellent analytical, conceptual thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of Corporate consolidation
  • Able to thrive in an often fast paced and deadline oriented business that requires development and refinement of processes & procedures
  • Knowledge and experience in Hyperion Planning, Hyperion Enterprise and/or Hyperion Financial Management
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, Access)
  • Knowledge and experience in Oracle

CAPABILITIES & COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to manage stress and work well under pressure, e.g. meeting deadlines within prescribed timeframes
  • Ability to learn about the financial requirements of existing/new/different countries
  • Able to work within a team environment and contribute towards team objectives and meeting various deadlines
  • Able to assimilate ad-hoc and diverse information, create/provide financial models and/or analysis and present it to management successfully
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proven ability to analyze business financial performance; identify the strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats; and implement appropriate measures that maximize financial performance
  • Due to worldwide presences, able to work flexible hours (which may include evenings, weekends and/or public holidays)
  • Occasional travel required (35-40%)
