Overview
The Service Worker will perform a vast array of tasks dependent on
the requirements of the customer in a safe, efficient, timely and
quality manner. Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
window cleaning, power washing, street sweeping, trash sorting,
wood dismantling, deep cleaning services, recycling, tug / forklift
duties, landscaping, minor maintenance such a replacing lights,
painting, filter replacement, etc. and other similar services.
Responsibilities
Receives general instructions from the Facilities Managers,
Facility Supervisor and/ or senior tradespeople.
Works from written work orders, sketches, and verbal requests,
while adhering to all building and safety codes.
Work is limited to the installed equipment on the interior spaces
of restrooms. In general, work within walls is not included. The
use of toilet augers and/or drain snakes, going through walls and
floors is included.
MAJOR DUTIES:
A. Plumbing - to include clearing of clogged drains using manual
and electric auger machines; change-out of flushometers batteries;
simple fixture replacements, cycling of shut-off supply valves;
change-out of water filters for specialty water systems. Repair of
leaky or inoperative faucets, sink drains, toilets and urinals as
required. Use of caulking and sealants to fill gaps and protect
fixtures.
B. Fixtures - repair/ replacement of inoperative paper dispensers,
soap dispensers and other common restroom fixtures and
installations. Remounting and repairs of door partitions,
furniture, countertops and toilet seats. Cleaning and remounting of
vents, vents covers and exhaust fans.
C. Electrical - to include the change-out of inoperative lamps and
bulbs throughout the restroom facility (ballasts replacements are
not included). Replacement of missing plug covers (faceplates);
Inspection of local tankless hot water heater systems for
functionality or leaks. No live electrical work.
D. Facility Protection/ Safety Systems (as required) - to include
the monthly inspection of the mounted fire extinguishers, fire
risers, emergency lighting systems and eye wash/shower stations and
the documentation of these routine inspections. Keeping clear the
path to emergency exits and line of sight to evacuation maps.
Updating of the building's clocks to the correct hour and date
(seasonal).
E. Carpentry Work - to include the minor repair of doors and
thresholds, locks, hangers and some furniture repairs. Removal and
security of broken and/or missing glass panels (mirrors).
Replacement and/or repairs to ceiling tiles; ceramic wall tiles
and/ or floor tilework. Wall painting and patch work as required
for damage found inside of restrooms.
F. Performs routine and preventive building maintenance services
within restroom areas. Performs or assists in the performance of
other higher-level maintenance tasks under the direct supervision
of a senior tradesperson.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
A. Requires a high school education, a technical certification or
an Associate Degree or vocational training or three years of work
experience (degree and certification may be replaced by
experience). Operates power and manual tools, maintenance equipment
and machinery in the performance of the assigned duties.
B. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
for employment.
C. Must be a US Citizen or US Person.
D. Ability to communicate in English (both written and verbal).
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
The candidate must have awareness of, will be trained in, and will
adhere to the following matters of safety and regulatory compliance
(to be given by Servicon and/or client):
1. PPE assessment and use protocols
2. Asbestos awareness (level 1 only)
3. Contractor Safety Manual (clients' procedures)
4. Emergency Procedures & Evacuation Procedures
5. Fall Protection (ladder usage)
6. Fire Extinguisher operation
7. Hazard Communication
8. Lock Out/ Tag-out
9. SDSs - 3E (formally MSDS sheets)
10. Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan
11. Other, as required by client.
Qualifications
Education: Experience as a Custodian of at least 1 to 2 years. High
School diploma or GED equivalent.
Clearance: If contract required: Department of Defense Secret or
SAP clearance.
Certification: May require specialized training in Cleanroom,
Electro Static Discharge (ESD) and other
specialty service policies and procedures and certification in
specialized equipment.
Environment: Will vary considerably depending upon the clients
business that can range from heavy
industrial environments (aerospace, factories, refineries, etc.) to
office complexes. Significant
amount of travel required, long periods of walking, standing,
sitting and lifting. Weather
changes based on the geography and time of year.
