        Job Summary

        The Learning Technician Senior will provide learning support in a higher education computer lab setting. The incumbent will assist individual students and help coordinate training and workshops for small groups.

        The Learning Technician Senior will maintain orderly operation of the computer lab during assigned shift and provide work direction to part-time staff as needed.

        The Learning Technician Senior provides technical assistance to computer users, monitors the computer lab, helps with minor computer-related issues and answers users' questions during lab hours.

        Essential Functions

        50% - Provides tutoring, technical, and instructional support in a higher education computer lab setting

        20% - Assists with coordinating and organizing training sessions, instructional workshops, meetings, and events; monitors and maintains the operations, activities, events, and appearance of the computer lab
        10% - Troubleshoots hardware/software issues and escalates as necessar

        10% - Works on special projects such as Google sites, inventory management, help desk tickets, software/hardware tracking, and social media
        10% - Performs other duties as assigned

        The Learning Technician Senior provides technical assistance to computer users, monitors the computer lab, helps with minor computer-related issues and answers users' questions during lab hours.

        Additional duties:

      • Offers general consultations for people who are working or studying in the lab both in-person and remotely.
      • Ensures that computer lab equipment is being cared for properly by users.
      • Adds paper and otherwise ensures proper functioning of all printers in the lab.
      • Sets up and shuts down the lab according to work hours.

        Knowledge of:

      • Knowledge of computer systems, hardware and various types of software.
      • Must have the ability to effectively provide instruction to lab users.
      • Basic knowledge of how to operate, and care for printers, projectors, scanners, speakers and other lab equipment.
      • Knowledge of tests that must be performed on computers to maintain optimal function.

        Minimum Qualifications

        High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience providing or assisting students with learning, skills development and tutoring in field of assignment

        OR Associate's Degree.

        Desired Qualifications

        1. An Associate's degree or higher in computer technology or a related field from a regionally-accredited institution of higher education.

        2. Two (2) or more years of experience tutoring, instructional, coaching, or training experience

        3. Three (3) or more years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite - Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access

        Special Working Conditions
        • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body.
        • Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
