SUMMARY:
The duties of a Network Support Technician include being a
reference point for all IT related queries at the user level,
responding to user needs in a timely manner, ensuring the optimal
running of all user systems, and onboarding new employees, among
other technical duties.
Network Support Technicians are expected to display good
interpersonal and communication skills as they will interact with
users from various departments and executive levels. They are
required to listen to their technical needs, understand their
problems, and implement solutions to them.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
--- Serves as the first point of contact for error reporting and
provides support to users via phone, chat, videoconference, email,
or in-person contact.
--- Analyzes and troubleshoots client hardware and software
issues.
--- Repairs or replaces damaged or faulty client hardware.
--- Upgrades outdated client hardware and software to maintain
optimal system operation.
--- Maintains proper and accurate records of client hardware and
software in our inventory systems.
--- Installs and configures client hardware and software to ensure
usability, including security components in accordance with our
security policies.
--- Sets up accounts, computers, and workstations for new
employees.
--- Conducts IT-related onboarding with new employees.
--- Delivers high quality customer service to users.
--- Communicates effectively with users and team members.
--- Teaches computing fundamentals to users who are not
tech-inclined.
--- Mentors and coaches users on best practices as it relates to
technology and cybersecurity
--- Prepares conference rooms for meetings per user specifications
and requirements.
--- Completes appropriate forms in accordance with our
documentation policies.
--- Assists with project-related tasks as needed.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Undergraduate studies in computer science or related field
(associate degree, certification, or equivalent experience), OR one
year of IT-related job experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
--- A strong working knowledge of computer systems, hardware, and
software.
--- Good problem-solving, analytical, and team-working skills.
--- Good written and verbal communication skills.
--- Attention to detail.
--- A passion for customer service.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw
valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of
instructions in written or diagram form. Reasoning; dealing with
problems involving a few variables in standard situations.
